William David Holder - Heritage Layout

I have been busy working on the family tree as I have had some time off work. It was time to create some pages for the male ancestors (always find it easier to create pages for the ladies). After shuffling papers around for the afternoon, I finally made a decision and got going in the evening  yesterday. With the help of some inspiration from the Merly Impressions monthly challenge sketch for October.

Here is my layout featuring my Great Uncle Bill (William David Holder).

The hidden journalling reads:

"William David Holder

Know as Bill, my great uncle.
In researching my family ancestry I discovered William
was born on the 16th August 1906 to Frederick Henry Holder
& Emma Jane Florence Williams Holder, 13th of 14 children.
They lived in 120 Southlands Road, Bromley, Kent.
Bill married Ivy Maud Elsdon (1901 - 1987)
They had five children - Barbara, Philip, Lesley, Olive and Robin.
I found a relationship with Lilian Freda Elizabeth Able and their child Christopher .
William died in Bromley on 27th December 1978."

52 Card Challenge & Christmas Cracker 2014 - Week 40 - Say What?!

We have a photo prompt challenge this week. Please see Kool Kitty Musings Blog for details of the challenge.

This week's prompt is called "Say what?!" {Pinterest pin}

The focus is on words and making your greeting or sentiment stand out in some way - I used my Cricut Explore and the Word Collage cartridge. With the drawing facility I created my background papers.
Here is my first card:

I used a fine pen and the stitching related words together with Basic Grey's Lucille collection of papers and embellishment stickers. I added lace, seam binding ribbon, buttons and pins.

Then onto my Christmas card using the same Cricut cartridge.

I used a thicker metallic pen in the Cricut this time. I added organza ribbon and some glittered chipboard pieces I have had in my stash for years!

Thanks for looking.

Hello Dolly!

I created a second layout for the September Scrapology challenge. This month we've chosen this stunning layout by The Bling Princess - Julianne McKenna-De Lumen, otherwise known as Jules.

Here is my layout featuring my mother with my smallest baby triplet Emily when she was three months old back in 1992.

The journalling reads:
"Baby Emily with her Nanny at Toadhall
July 1992
Tiny Emily was about 3 months old here and was often
referred to as Dolly.
A name by which Nanny has also been known.
Her cousins call her Dolly to this day as she was
always the tiny one in the family too."

I used:

Patterned papers and stickers - Simple Stories
Templates - Technique Tuesday
Cricut - Lacy Labels Cartridge
Punch - Martha Stewart
Ink - Distress ink
Other - Flat-backed pearls & Stickles, 3D foam pads

Here is a reminder of Jules' layout and the sketch - please pop over to  Scrapology for details of the challenge and more inspiration.

A Pair of Periwinkle Cards

I decided not to put the scraps of paper back in my cupboard after finishing my layout using the Kaisercraft Periwinke collection papers. I thought I would make a couple of cards.

For this first one I also used up the spare flowers cut using the Sizzix - Sizzlit - Tattered Florals Decorative Strip. I cut a card blank using the left over cream Bazzil, layered up some papers and decorated with the flowers and leaves. I added gems to the centres of the flowers.

The greeting was cut with an Elizabeth Craft Designs die

For my next card I used a Kraft card blank.

Another Sizzix - Sizzlet Decorative Strip die was used for this card, this time the rosette.
The letters are cut using Die-Namics alphabet dies and the tails for the rosette are cut with the Basic Banner die by Wplus9.

Would be good if I could get into the habit of doing this with each layout.
