Birthday Feathers

For the month of January's card challenge on Scrapology is a colour wheel and Linda has challenged us to use LIME, PURPLE and SILVER on our cards.

My feathers were cut with the Cricut and the Art Nouveau Cartridge.

The were inked and curled with scissors and layered up, before being stuck in place on the cards. The backing paper is from Magnolia. The Hero Arts stamp reads "Our birthdays are feathers in the broad wings of time". I added a lot of  crystal Stickles, miri card and some flat backed pearls and gems.

For the final one I used gold instead of silver.

Please go to the Scrapology Blog to see details of the challenge, and the cards made by the rest of the Design Team.
The challenge runs until 25th February.

Lots of scraps of Basic Grey Colour Me Silly papers
Craftwork Cards Card Candi
Bazzill cardstock in white, orange and black

I decided while making Lucy's card to make a second birthday bird card.

I used a Lili of the Valley greeting stamp, and punches from Stampin' Up and Woodware for the greeting. The card blank is from Craft Creations.

Wedding Canvas

My brother, Rob married the lovely Elaine in Brazil back in May 2012. I made them a canvas for Christmas, but am only able to give it to them today as they have been away over Christmas and the New Year.

I used a 16"x16" deep canvas, and the Basic Grey Serenade collection. I picked out three papers - 50 Pence, Peacock and Chemise together with some alphabet stickers for the date. I made the base by painting the canvas with Opal Jo Sonia's acrylic paint and tearing, inking and arranging the BG papers.

The photo was 20 x 25 cm, but trimmed down. I used a Buzz and Bloom 'On the Grapevine' large die cut chipboard frame, this was also painted with the opal paint and then spritzed with Cosmic Shimmer Mist - Ancient Copper and Tattered Angels Chalkboard Glimmer Mist - Teal High Heal.  There are a few splodges of Tim Holtz Distress Stain, on the frame and papers.

I added three clusters of paper roses, cherry blossoms and leaves - these were all from Wild Orchid Crafts.
My title was made with Amy Tangerine American Crafts Everyday printed chipboard alphabet stickers.

To the flowers and frame I added some Glitz Stickles - Ancient Copper. I used a few flat-backed pearls and some pale blue organza ribbon with a heart hat pin.

I added a few very tiny blue flowers with leaves here and there on the chipboard vine frame.

Congratulations to Rob and Elaine, thanks for looking.

'Twas the Night Before Christmas ....

... and all through the house, not a creature was stirring ...

This is my 'T is for Tags' layout for this month's scraplift challenge over on Scrapology.

To start off the new year we are scraplifting this stunning page by Elaine Rolf.  Many of you will know Elaine from Scrap 365 magazine, Paper Arts Shop and her blog The Distressed Scrapper.
Here is her original layout:

and the sketch

Here is how I made my layout:

Cut several clock faces using the Tim Holtz Sizzix die  from scrap card to use as masks and lay them on the cream base cardstock, spray lightly with sprout Tattered Angels glimmer mist. Leave to dry, remove masks.

Cut several clock faces from green bazzill. Make tags in various sizes from Authentic Festive collection patterned papers, punching a small hole in the top of each one. Ink the edges.

Cut photos to sizes required.

Arrange everything on the page and when happy with the arrangement stick in place. I stuck some things down flat and others were raised up with 3D foam pads.

Where the clock hands show attach with a gold brad.

I wound some twine in and out of some tags and made ties for others.

With the Cheeky Alphabet stamps from The Paper Trunk add a rhyme, or long title around the outer edges of the layout.

Please pop over to Scrapology to find out more about the challenge and the prize.
